Whitecapped Albatross

Colin Hopkins, a fourth generation Stewart Islander and his wife Margaret offer a variety of half and full day options around the spectacular coastline of Stewart Island. Their combined local knowledge of natural and local history, along with a commitment to providing top quality service to clients, makes a day out a memorable one. Travelling on the comfortable 18m catamaran Aurora clients are able to visit Paterson Inlet, remote Port Pegasus on the southeast coast or Mason Bay on the west side of Stewart Island.

A variety of seabirds can be seen on most trips including Buller’s mollymawk, albatross, petrels, and blue, Fiordland crested and yellow-eyed penguins as well as fur seals and sea lions. A visit to open sanctuary Ulva Island provides a magical experience where rare and endangered birds such as the saddleback, kaka, mohua (yellowhead) and Stewart Island robin can be seen.
