Pterodroma Pelagics specialises in New Zealand pelagics (seabird tours) with regular trips for the Hauraki Gulf, NZ’s Far North and Stewart Island. We also run a programme of extended pelagics for the NZ and South Pacific region.
The beautiful Hauraki Gulf is close to Auckland, New Zealand’s most popular international entry point, the perfect place to start your birdwatching adventures. Join us to see a unique range of locally endemic seabirds including the recently rediscovered NZ Storm Petrel, thought extinct for over 100 years. Trip calendars and a full sightings record for our tours can be found on our website.
The South Pacific is also home to some of the world’s rarest and least-known seabirds. Pterodroma Pelagics/Kiwi Wildlife is leading the way with ship-based opportunities for birders to explore this fascinating region.
When we established Pterodroma Pelagics in 2002 we set out to actively collect data through our seabird observation programme. This includes our ongoing study of the New Zealand Storm Petrel. Find out how you can contribute to this programme.
Pterodroma Pelagics is a subsidiary of Kiwi Wildlife Tours NZ Limited and within New Zealand operates through its DOC concession for island visits.
