Stewart Island Lodge is a peaceful, secluded up-market bed and breakfast, nestled in native bush just two minutes’ walk from Stewart Island’s village of Oban.

Its extensive gardens are home to a variety of native birds including kaka (native parrots), kereru (native wood pigeons) and tui, which are often viewed from the terrace.

All guest rooms are king-sized double or twin with their own ensuite bathroom which open directly onto a deck with ocean views. Every evening guests are invited to join their hosts for a pre-dinner drink and a selection of appetisers incorporating the best of local fare. A leisurely breakfast and courtesy transfers are included.

Before heading to a local restaurant in the village for dinner, bird enthusiasts can enjoy a Stewart Island Evening Guided Walk. Experienced nature guides ensure the best sights and $5 from each booking made goes towards work to help protect the island’s native bird life.
