Bush and Beyond Guided Walks operates solely in Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand’s second largest and most diverse park. We offer conservation based eco walks, concentrating on birds, flora and conservation education.

Because of the diversity of Kahurangi, bird life includes all habitats from coastal to alpine. Our special 7-day birders trip visits Farewell Spit bird sanctuary, Mangarakau wetland, alpine areas of Kahurangi, and includes visiting 3 conservation projects in action.

Some of the rarer bird species to be seen are; Blue Duck, Kaka, Falcon, Kea, Yellow Crowned Parakeet, Fernbird, Rifleman, Brown Creeper and Australasian Bittern. Some of the more common bush species include; Robin, Tomtit, Bellbird, Tui, Grey Warbler, NZ Pigeon, Fantail and many more. Many waders and migrants can be viewed on Farewell Spit.

The walks on this trip requires only day packs. We have exclusive use of comfortable cottage and cabin accommodation.

Many other trips available.
