Aroha Island Ecological Centre

Aroha Island provides one of the most accessible opportunities to hear and see North Island Brown Kiwi.

Aroha is also a terrific base to explore the Bay of Islands and the Far North of New Zealand. Enjoy the bird-life; kiwi in the surrounding bush, banded rail, seabirds and waders, and many other species. Enjoy the bush, beach, walks, swimming, kayaks, dinghies, and guided night walks (by prior arrangement from $50). We have a Visitor Centre that focuses on kiwi and habitat protection. Our Cottage sleeps up to 10 (from $85 per night for two people), and there is wonderful camping ($9 per person). Vehicle access is via a causeway.
