Some of the species listed below as always seen are seasonal but are always seen during their seasonal stay. Some of the penguin species occaisionally seen occur during the moult time (February - April)
‘Peninsula encounters’ tours depart from Dunedin City in the afternoon and return around six hours later in the evening. Tours include lagoon and coastal birdlife and a visit to the royal albatross colony. The remainder of the tour is conducted solely within our private wildlife conservation area in a beautiful beach location. Multi-day personalised small group expeditions of the southern coastline can be arranged on request.

Yellow-eyed Penguins are one of the rarest of the world's 18 species of penguin. There are only 5,000 - 6,000 Yellow-eyed Penguins in the wild and they only live in New Zealand.
