When you stay with us, you’ll be immersed in a natural playground, see rare North Island weka and pateke roam free around the park and you may even have the chance to see brown kiwi in the surrounding native bush.
Wake up to the sound of native birds, hear the call of the kiwi at night as you gaze at the star filled sky or sit around the camp fire. It’s the perfect setting to make memories as nature intended!
We are a bird lovers paradise and you can spot up to 55 species of bird throughout the park and surrounding native bush. Our holiday park is home to four of New Zealands rarest birds the North Island Brown kiwi, the North Island weka, fernbirds and the brown teal. You will hear the calls of kiwi, weka, morepork, pukeko and spur winged plover during your stay with us as well as experiencing close encounters with some of these rare birds.
We are proud to be predator free and the 2019 winner of the predator free New Zealand Holiday Park award. We work to protect the habitat within our 14 acre park on a daily basis by undertaking extensive pest control. Predator numbers are relatively low and the four rare species here are breeding successfully. We support Project Island Song, and the work they do to protect the wildlife in the Bay of Islands.
