Abel Tasman Eco Tours

Abel Tasman Eco Tours is a small business; owned and operated by Stew Robertson and his family.  Let us give you a unique perspective of the Abel Tasman National Park, we use our local and ecological knowledge to find the best that the park has to offer on the day. On our full day 'Golden Future' tour, your skipper and guide will safely pilot you through the various ecosystems of the park. Highlights include Adele Island (predator free), the Tonga Island Marine Reserve,  a guided walk around Pitt Head Ecological Island, relaxing on our golden sandy beaches and exploring the open sea in search of pelagic birds and charismatic megafauna.  Combine this with our 'Promised Land Tour', a more energetic walking tour which takes you into the park from Canaan Downs Scenic reserve into the Gondwanan beech forest of the upper Wainui Valley, where predator numbers are low and the chance of seeing threatened native birds and Powelliphanta snails is high.  The tour culminates at Wainui hut, where purpose built aviaries often house kaka and kakariki, acclimatising before release to strengthen the wild flock.  We tell the story of evolution, devastation  and conservation in Aotearoa, especially focussing on the Abel Tasman Birdsong Trust and New Zealand's most ambitious restoration project to date; Project Janszoon.  As a koha to these two great organisations we donate $5 per ticket towards their work.  We consult with the experts and are alway learning more about this incredible place,  we have officially extended the western range of the King Shag and discovered a critically endangered mat forming plant.

We also work with schools and organise clean-ups to help make Tasman Bay a better place for everyone.  Come and 'Open your Eyes' with us and see why people are saying this is the best thing they've done in New Zealand!
