Breeding areas
Many offshore islands around North I of NZ from Three Kings to Cook Strait and Marlborough Sounds.
Breeding season
August to February
Dispersal migration
Range in Winter extends to seas off S.Canterbury and sometimes as far as Chatham Is. Some, mainly young birds, migrate to eastern Australia in Winter and stay into early Summer. Stragglers reach New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
