Discover the magic of the Marlborough Sounds, Lochmara, locally owned and operated by
Shayne and Louise for over 20 years.
The Marlborough Sounds is a nature lover’s adventure playground. Tucked into the native
bush at the water’s edge, Lochmara has a flexible range of day tours from Picton for adventure
or relaxation, a café/restaurant serving fantastic local produce, and accommodation overlooking
the bay.
At Lochmara you will find hands-on experiences of Wildlife Recovery programs, conservation projects,
and native parakeet breeding programmes, 11 acres of art and nature trails and plenty space to
relax and enjoy the scenery or walk to the queen Charlotte Track.
Hammocks provide restful quiet spots, kayaks and paddleboards are free for all guests,
and at night a glow worm walk is a must.
Lochmara Lodge, Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery Trust and Conservation Kids NZ
Charitable Trust are proud to bring you Marlborough Sounds Marine Research & Education Centre.
The Underwater Observatory offers tours daily for observing marine birds and marine life in
their natural habitat with an opportunity to hand fed wild stingray.
Join us for a day, a meal, or for longer and stay a night or two and you’ll soon realise
