Discover the magic of the Marlborough Sounds, staying or playing at award winning Lochmara Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre.
The Marlborough Sounds is a nature lover’s adventure playground. Tucked into the native bush at the water’s edge, we have a small but flexible range of day tours from Picton for adventure or relaxation, a café/restaurant serving fantastic local produce, and accommodation overlooking the bay.
At Lochmara you will find hands-on experiences in the Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre, with nature trails, conservation projects, native parakeet breeding programmes, Queen Charlotte Track day walks and space to relax and enjoy the scenery. Hammocks provide restful quiet spots, the kayaks are free for all guests, and at night a glow worm walk is a must. Winner of the Department of Conservation’s Conservation in Action Award for a tourism business (201), and Supreme Award Winner at the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce Business Awards (2012). Lochmara is once discovered, never forgotten
